The whole Stones thing reminded me of the curious phenomenon of Stalags or Stalag magazines. In a display of sadomasochistic depravity that makes the Night Porter look positively vanilla, Stalags were an actual phenomenon in Israel in the 1960s, around the time of the Eichmann trial and featured plenty of juicy titles like “I Was Colonel Schultz’s Bitch”, etc. You get the point. Nazi exploitation flicks and books make sense but the fact that they appeared in Israel is beyond me. There is apparently a documentary on this subject but no specifics on the festival dates or DVD release. I would really like to see that doc - wondering if it would shed some light on this insanity!
the documentary was screened twice during the 4th Berlin Porn Film Festival (October ‘09) and I got to meet the filmmaker, a very interesting guy who also made a documentary about circumcision.
might be screened in other European PFFs such as the one in Athens (January 2010) or the one in Paris (June or July 2010). check in their programmes if they’re showing it.
I know that Jurgen (the organizer of the Berlin PFF) really wanted to screen it in Germany, because he felt it made a lot of sense - he had to insist a bunch because the filmmaker was reluctant to have his film screened in a porn festival (even though the title of his doc includes the word “pornography”).
Maybe the other PFFs won’t be so interested in screening it.
